2017 Bogomolny National Service Award

On January 15, 2017, Chamber Music America at their 39th Annual Conference, awarded Paquito D’Rivera with the 2017 Bogomolny National Service Award in New York City. The CMA awards this to composers “for educating and inspiring generations of musicians.”

The award was presented during a conference session entitled “A Conversation with Paquito D’Rivera” with CMA Board President Billy Childs doing the interviewing. After the award presentation, Mr. Child’s accompanied D’Rivera in a performance.

During the interview D’Rivera talked about how important it is for jazz and classical musicians to open up to each other’s music. He also commented “I don’t write music to get awards. My award is working with wonderful musicians…” (quotes courtesy of Boosey & Hawkes.)

Paquito D’Rivera compositions are available through Boosey and Hawkes.
