On Sept. 23, The Latin Recording Academy announced the nominations for this year’s 16th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards. We are thrilled that this year’s nominees include Paquito D’Rivera Sextet’s latest recording.
The nomination is for the “Best Latin Jazz Album” for Jazz Meets the Classics, released by Sunnyside Records/Paquito Records. The album was recorded live at Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York. Sextet members performing with Paquito D’Rivera are:
- Diego Urcola, trumpeter/trombonist;
- Alex Brown, pianist;
- Oscar Stagnaro, bassist;
- Arturo Stable, percussionist;
- Mark Walker, drummer; and
- Pepe Rivero, special guest pianist.
D’Rivera and his wonderful ensemble have recorded intriguing arrangements of the classical repertoire of legendary composers, including Chopin, Beethoven and Mozart, for a jazz sextet. Read more…
The 16th Annual Latin GRAMMY® Awards will air on November 19, broadcasting live on the Univision Network from 8:00 pm. ET/PT (7:00 p.m. Central).
