On September 18, 2026, Fuga Latina a record label of Outhere Music released the album Horizons: Live at Festival PAAX GNP. Recorded live in 2023 at the festival’s inaugural edition, the album includes Paquito D’Rivera’s composition The Journey.
About The Journey
D’Rivera’s work was commissioned for the National Symphony Orchestra for orchestra and three solo instruments. The world premiere was held on September 8, 2022, at Wolf Trap’s Filene Center in Vienna, Virginia, with long-time friends Yo-Yo Ma (cello) and Paquito D’Rivera (clarinet), joined by Cathy Yang (erhu) as the featured soloists with the orchestra. The Journey is in a concerto format with three movements entitled “Beans,” “Rice”, and “The Journey.”
The world premiere with NSO of The Journey is also excerpted on the documentary Paquito D’Rivera: Carne y Frijol to Carnegie Hall, directed by Juan Mandelbaum, airing on the VOCES PBS program on October 12, 2026.

This inaugural album, recorded live at the 2023 Festival PAAX GNP in Mexico’s Mayan Riviera, brings together three landmark concertos under the baton of conductor Alondra de la Parra, Artistic Director and Founder.
Works by Paquito D’Rivera, Omar Massa, Yamandu Costa and Sérgio Assad trace a vibrant sonic journey from the Caribbean to Buenos Aires and Brazil, where African, Chinese, and Latin American traditions meet the symphonic stage.
Paquito D’Rivera and fellow composers also perform as soloists with the Impossible Orchestra.
